E-readers – where are they all?

This year so far, I’ve travelled over 15000 miles and I’m yet to see anyone actively using an ereader. It could simply be that I’ve not been in the right part of the world at the right time – although most of these trips have been through the most busy aiport hubs in the world. Places where people are constatly waiting around to catch a plane – precisely where one might expect them to be reading e-content on ereaders.

In fact the only ereader I have seen in the wild has been at the Munich Scrum Gathering – when someone left their Kindle laying around during an improv game.

As someone extremely interested in ereader technology – I mean the really usable stuff, not the half wit , wasteful technocrap that has been fillng the market for the last few years, I find it interesting and disturbing that despite all the hype by vendors (Amazon especially) the result on the ground doesn’t seem to reflect the ‘market dominance’ that we often hear plenty about.

If anyone knows where all these ereaders are, please let me know – I would like to see them in the hands on real users.
